My Progress Block — Show Students Their Course Completion in Moodle

Students who can see their progress are more motivated and less likely to disengage. The My Progress block adds a clean, visual completion dashboard to every student's Moodle page — showing exactly what they've done and what remains.

Students are more motivated when they can see how far they've come and how much remains. Moodle tracks completion data internally, but it's buried in admin reports that students never see. The My Progress block surfaces this data prominently — a student-facing completion dashboard on their Moodle homepage or within each course — showing percentage complete, activities done vs. remaining, and a visual progress bar for each enrolled course.

    Why your RTO needs this

RTOs with low completion rates often find that students simply lose track of where they are and what they need to do. The My Progress block is one of the simplest, highest-impact interventions available: make progress visible and students self-manage better. It also reduces 'how am I going?' support requests — students can answer this question themselves by looking at their progress dashboard. For trainers, the block provides a quick at-a-glance view of which students in their course are falling behind without needing to run reports.

    Key Features

    Per-Course Progress Bars

Each enrolled course shows a percentage-complete progress bar — updated in real time as students complete activities.

    Activity Checklist View

Students can expand a course to see a checklist of required activities — checked off as each is completed.

    Grade Summary

Current grade or competency status for each course is displayed alongside completion progress.

    Next Action Prompt

The block prompts students with their next incomplete activity — reducing the friction of 'what should I do now?'

    Responsive Design

The block is fully responsive and works on mobile devices — important for students studying via smartphone.

    Common Use Cases

    • 1Increasing self-paced course completion rates by making progress transparent to students
    • 2Reducing trainer support load for 'what do I need to do?' queries in large online cohorts
    • 3Motivating part-time learners who study infrequently by showing accumulated progress clearly
    • 4Providing students with accessible evidence of their own learning for personal records
